Music and Band

Athenry Primary School Marching Band

Athenry Primary School’s marching band had their first ever performance at the Athenry St. Patrick’s Day parade this year. A huge amount of work was put in since our amalgamation to bring both schools together and to produce what is now an Athenry tradition, a marching band of Athenry primary school children leading the parade.

Both Scoil Chroí Naofa and Athenry Boys school have had a long history of music and marching bands and it was important that this was continued and preserved.

Led and marshalled by Ms. Murray and a host of other teachers the children learn various instruments in Fourth, Fifth and Sixth classes including the tin whistle, bell lyres, melodica, accordion and drums.

See our fantastic band at this year’s parade below.

Music in Athenry Primary School

After months of practice and hard work Fifth and Sixth class took part in the 2025 Peace Proms – Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland. It took place in March in the University of Limerick. They were fantastic and did the school proud.
